Redlands Satellite Hospital (Talwalpin Milbul)

Located near the Redland Bay Ferry Terminal and Volunteer Coast Guard at 22 Meissner Rd, Redland Bay is the new Redlands Satellite Hospital (also known as Talwalpin Milbul, which means “Redland Bay Alive/Active” in Jandai language).

Services

Minor Injury and Illness Clinic

The Minor Injury and Illness Clinic can be accessed for walk-in, urgent care for illnesses and injuries not anticipated to be life-threatening in nature, such as simple fractures, simple infections, earache, minor burns and minor head injuries.

The Minor Injury and Illness Clinic operates from 8am to 10pm, 7 days a week.

Redland Hospital

Redland Hospital is the main public hospital for the Redlands and surrounding areas. It is located in Weippin St, Cleveland and there is a TransLink Bus (272) that will get you there from the Redland Bay Marina.

Services including (but not limited to) Adult Mental Health, Advance Care Planning, Breast and Endocrine Surgery, Cardiac Rehabilitation, Diabetes, Emergency Department, Gastroenterology, Kidney Services, Maternity Care, Neurology, Paediatrics, Respiratory, Social Work and Urology are available – click here for a full list.

Rotary Lodge Accommodation

In 1995-96, the Cleveland Rotary Club built and opened the Rotary Lodge, Redland Hospital Precinct, providing accommodation for families of trauma and emergency patients, particularly from the Southern Moreton Bay Islands. If you need to use one of these 2 self-contained 2-person apartments due to a late discharge with no ability to get back to the Islands, please contact the After-Hours Nurse Manager or phone the Hospital Switchboard on (07) 3488 3111.

If you have difficulty accessing this facility in any way, please contact me on 0444 525 659 or HiltonTravis@SMBI.Community as I am building up a list of discharge-related issues to bring to the attention of both Metro South Health and Qld Govt to help things improve for SMBI residents, and Redlanders in general.

Mater Private Hospital Redland

Mater Private Hospital Redland has been supporting Brisbane’s Bayside community since 2000 and is Redland City’s only private hospital facility. Located across from the Redland Hospital in Weippin St, this is a 60-bed hospital featuring 2 operating theatres.

Services

Visiting Hours

At Mater we recognise the importance of visiting your loved ones at times that are convenient to you. We encourage family and friends to visit patients between 8 am and 8 pm, seven days a week.

Please note, to ensure patients have adequate rest and recovery periods, we promote a rest period between 1 pm and 3 pm.

Dr Arun Nayak has 17 years of work experience as a medical doctor and is passionate in providing high-quality health care to the communities. He has extensive experience in diagnosing, treating and managing patient illness including surgery of trauma patients.

Dr Kama Mico completed her medical degree as a foundation student at James Cook University in 2005. After working at Logan Hospital and starting General Practice in Darwin, she stepped sideways to Community Development. Kama worked in Arnhem Land for 8 years, focusing on nutrition and preventative health. She has now moved this work to the Central Desert, and co- founded the charity Under The Shade.Org

Dr Valerie was practising as a qualified Accredited Practising Dietitian for over 4 years and then she decided she would like to follow her calling to do medicine, in the hope of improving the lives of the community around her. Being a General Practitioner was always her dream and she was practising as a General Practitioner in Singapore before embarking on a new journey in Australia. She is passionate in all areas of GP work especially women and children’s health, mental health, senior health and skin cancer.

Macleay Island Child Health Service

The Child Health Service provides a range of free community health and support services throughout the greater Brisbane metropolitan area for families with children up to eight years of age. We provide a variety of services e.g. Drop-in clinics, growth and development checks in the early years, information to help parents support their child to thrive, groups and counselling for parents.

Drop-in clinics provide the opportunity for families to have a brief consultation with a child health nurse for any general parenting concerns. All drop-in clinics are for babies between birth and three months, some of the clinics are also available for children up to five years. • No appointment required. • If families require additional support (e.g. intensive feeding support) the nurse will schedule an individual follow-up, booked appointment, for a more comprehensive assessment. • Interpreter services can be arranged. • Closed on public holidays. Bay Islands Psychology

Bay Islands Psychology is a wellbeing clinic that provides a respectful, friendly and professional environment to administer assessment and provide psychotherapy for the people of South Moreton Bay Islands.

Dr Julie Nos is a Clinical Psychologist who has obtained the highest level of post-graduate qualifications in Clinical Psychology and has expertise in the treatment of a wide range of mental, emotional and relationship issues.

Island Smiles Dental

The only dental surgery in Macleay Island was established in 2008 to service the local residents. Dr. Tim Dam joined the practice at the beginning of 2022 and enjoyed very warm welcome from the local residents. In early 2023, Dr. Tim Dam took over the surgery, rename the practice “Island Smiles Dental” with a desire to extend his services beyond the Macleay Island community, reaching out to the surrounding islands. His wife, Dr. Xuan Dam also joined him this year making this a husband and wife team. Together, the team combines more than 15 years of dental experience.
